Ask HN: How do you learn to solve Dynamic programming problems?
Hi,
I find dynamic problems interesting and most practical applications in real life.
Unfortunately, I suck at it. I need to get better.
I have googled around for tutorials but It's very difficult to go through them.
What kind of tutorials did you follow when you came across it?
Any suggestions?
I am looking for some kind of tutorial where there is one type of dynamic problem
is explained, then some solved examples and then has a judge for problems implementing
the same idea to reinforce what I learnt.
What do you suggest?
Thanks for help in advance.
- dalke 14y agoTake a look at the dynamic programming examples for sequence alignment. For examples, http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-seqalign/index.html http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-seqalign/in... and http://selab.janelia.org/publications/Eddy-ATG1/Eddy-ATG1-reprint.pdf http://selab.janelia.org/publications/Eddy-ATG1/Eddy-ATG1-re... . These are meant for biologists, who tend to not have a deep algorithms background before entering the bioinformatics field.
