Strikes me more as an attempt to maintain plausible deniability if/when the FTC comes knocking
- spiderfarmer 1y agoThe FTC will do nothing. Not under Trump.
- Bnjoroge 1y agohe's right. Trump is only marginally more M&A-friendly than Biden.
- lesuorac 1y agoTrump is pretty anti-other social media. All the big anti-trust against Meta/Google started under Trump (despite what Zuck claimed to Joe Rogan).
- lucaslazarus 1y agoPerhaps, but it's worth hedging against a potential Trump-Zuck fallout. Also, the statute of limitations for commencing an antitrust investigation is 4 years (15 U.S.C. § 15b).
- JoshTko 1y agoCompetitors just need to lobby sufficiently to get action
- __loam 1y agoThere is literally an active anti-trust case against Meta right now.

- spiderfarmer 1y agoWe'll see.
- bix6 1y agoSize seems large enough to warrant an FTC look, especially given Meta’s past. But I guess 1% less lets you pass GO :)
- Peroni 1y agoYep. They were quite blatant about it in the article: >The structure was intentional. Executives at Meta and Scale AI were worried about drawing the attention of regulators.
