At this point, we really just don't know what "consciousness" is. For all we know, it could be a quantum mechanical property of the universe. Does anyone have proof that it is not? The brain may have evolved a means to tap into this quantum realm --- similar to the way migratory birds have evolved the ability to see the earth's magnetic field and use it for navigation. The one thing I am certain of --- there is no real logical reason to believe an electronic device can do the same.
