Isn't this good news for the environment?
- PlunderBunny 1y agoYes, but it's going to come too late for climate change, and I'd wager that the percentage of people - relative to the total population - living at 'first world' standards is going to increase nevertheless, which is also bad for the environment.
- pengaru 1y agoYes

- tomhow 1y agoWe've banned this account.
- morepedantic 1y agoThe guy's name was kitler. Do you think that kitten hitler, or something else?
- tomhow 1y agoLet's not waste any more time thinking about it. The comment is more than reason enough to ban the account.
- morepedantic 1y agoThat may be true, and you may have banned the account, but I don't think you banned the person. New account created immediately after, responding to the same thread with the same sentiment but less extreme specific statements. https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=drentost https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=drentost
- morepedantic 1y agoI don't think you understand how closely related Europeans and Indians are.

- morepedantic 1y agoNot necessarily. There are a lot of second and third order effects to consider.
- alexey-salmin 1y agoNot really. The ideas that survive into the future will be the ideas of societies that sustain themselves. And it doesn't seem to coincide with "enlightened" ideas that much, including the desire to protect the environment. Though I'm way more worried about e.g. women rights than the environment.
