- cosmicgadget 1y agoNope, just saw your comment and it was bad. The person who replied even started with "it's hard to say these things without sounding like an asshole..." and then proceeded to say he can't date because of feminism. You're not being suppressed.
- eastbound 1y agoHe meant it for himself. I didn’t go as far as he did. I just said a worthy explanation for fewer kids is this movement that makes genders diverge. It’s an observation worthy of merit. Expressed differently, women want to be left alone. I think the downvotes are expressing something else - a tendency to downvote anything that discusses feminism negatively. And your comment tends to confirm it: You express negativity without argument. If so, it’s suppression. If not, then surely there’s a compassionate way to argument other than the usual “you = bad man”. The lack of discussion makes all extremes spike. And yes, I’m full of hatred now. Which the downvoted comment didn’t express.
- cosmicgadget 1y agoIt was his first sentence, seems like it was in reference to your statement. In any event, it applies equally to both of you. Not sure what your complaint is, I'm as happy to discuss the incel condition as I am to hear yet another HN lolbertarian try to explain that taxation is theft because if you stage a standoff with the IRS you might get shot. That doesn't make your comment any higher quality.
- abenga 1y agoWomen having equal agency and independence causing difficulty in your relationships is a you problem.
- eastbound 1y agoI’m not native in English so I don’t know the term, but this phrase is a truism that is false in depth. Me having problems in relationships is a societal problem just like women’s former troubles at work. But it seems you direct your compassion exclusively towards women, which inadvertently proves the point that men are just… lacking attention. How many Trumps do we have to elect until you include us in your inclusive program? How far will you go before you hear the screams of those who suffer?
- yumraj 1y agoCar seats??
- CalRobert 1y agoThe idea is that you used to be able to throw five kids on a bench seat but now having a third kid requires a car with more interior space (ironic since cars are much bigger now than they used to be). You can get car seats that do three across in a normal sedan though
- morepedantic 1y ago>You can get car seats that do three across in a normal sedan though Only in the last few years, and they require a full size sedan.
- morsch 1y agoThat was my reaction as well. They're probably referring to something along these lines: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3665046 https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3665046
- mdeeks 1y agoDoesn't this study say that it had a very low impact? > they led to a permanent reduction of approximately 8,000 births in the same year, and 145,000 fewer births since 1980
- alexey-salmin 1y agoThe paper also estimates the number of children saved at 57 per year, so the safety impact is even lower
- morsch 1y agoLet's call it 80 and you get a rate of 1:100 children saved per children not conceived. What would be a reasonable rate in your mind?
