I wouldn't particularly say 'extensive coverage'. It's mostly the publications sitting on the far left side of things (by American standards). Publications closer to the center tend to downplay the stories immensely (focusing on finding a way to highlight that they're illegal, theorizing about crimes they did, ignoring the fundamental rights of the country etc) and anything on the right is either outright ignoring it or calling it a good thing. Most of the coverage I've seen come out of these stories has been on social media which bubble up some of the local news stations and papers.
