This isn't flame bait, nor political battle. This is objective fact. Vietnam, Afghanistan(twice), Iraq(3 times), and far too many more to list. Operation Condor is a self-admitted terrorist operation committed by the CIA. The United States is responsible for the most despicable crimes against humanity the world has ever seen.
Meanwhile, other people in this topic are complaining about Tiananmen Square censorship and are not warned by the admins for "flame baiting" or "discussing politics". An explanation on that would be appreciated.
Expressing the fact that I'd much rather be spied on by a government that doesn't have a brutal track record like the US is hardly fulminating.
- pvg 1y ago'facts (or what you think are facts) can't be flamebait' is a well-recognized non-fact, take a look at https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&query=by%3Adang%20infinitely%20facts%20&sort=byDate&type=comment https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&que...
- michaelsshaw 1y agoIf your US-biased sympathies blind you from the awful deeds committed by your people, that's not my problem. There's no issue with shit-talking China to the ground, but criticising the US is the only thing I've gotten any hacker news users disagreeing with me. And dang's argument reads like the Chewbacca defense, to be frank.
- tomhow 1y agoNationalistic attacks are against the guidelines, no matter which countries they're against, and we have a long history of pulling up such comments, against many different countries [1]. We've particularly stood up against attacks on China, as we think it's important that HN visitors of Chinese heritage don't feel alienated by attacks on their country. But we want the same for everyone on HN as we have visitors from everywhere in the world and want all to feel welcome. It's fine to critique the actions of governments where it's on-topic and within the guidelines. Your comment was an inflammatory comment that was largely unrelated to the parent, so it's clearly against the guidelines.
