I saw the trailer for this show and had high hopes, but it's simplistic and tedious.
It doesn't feel like the writers (or actors, since the dialogue seems improvised) have intimate knowledge of the world they satirize.
It's a movie about how much the writer hates tech oligarchs, rather than a revealing satire of tech oligarchs.
- Apocryphon 1y agoWatching Succession, I always thought that the people behind it didn’t really grok tech, especially when they have their traditional media corporation execs say lines like “we can’t let tech win.” Just referring to the whole of the other industry as “tech,” like it’s an ineffable monolith and not like full of individual companies yours can interact with in different ways. It also had similar issues with its depiction of Washington politics, too.
