Any post about IoT security that doesn't mention or link to Shodan (https://www.shodan.io https://www.shodan.io) is missing a lot of context. It's way worse than you think. Also, with tools like Chip Whisperer (https://www.newae.com/chipwhisperer https://www.newae.com/chipwhisperer) the physical security of the hardware root of trust needs to be reevaluated.
