  That they have an self-interest does not necessarily mean that they don't have a point. It's obvious at this point that the American government should not be trusted with European governments data. Hell, you could even argue that the American government should not be trusted with the data of it's own citizens, them having let Doge and Elon Musk have had access to citizen information.

  The problem with decrying any conflict of interest is that you end up having non-expert research by people who are not familiar with the field.
