It’s more than that. Life isn’t about happiness. We’re not happy all the time. We often do things that sorta suck because at the end the accomplishment makes the pain and difficulty worth it. Giving away a thing I worked hard for robs me of the satisfaction of accomplishment. It steals from me the thing that makes the suffering worthwhile. It’s not that I don’t want other people to succeed it’s that I don’t want you to make my accomplishments meaningless.
