MIT physicists discover a new type of superconductor that's also a magnet
- az09mugen 1y agoNot to diminish the work of the scientists, but I think the relevant part of the article is : "They found that when the flakes are cooled to 300 millikelvins (about -273 degrees Celsius), the material turns into a superconductor" And the material is a particular form of graphite. For me, the grail (I know it's a dream) would be a superconductor that works at ambient temperature and pressure.
- caminanteblanco 1y agoI feel like it's unreasonable to dismiss anything short of the literal holy grail of superconductors.
