I'm not concerned at all about the long-term future. 1. On the whole the world gets better over time not worse, despite what people like to believe. At some point this may cease to be true but I am unwilling and possibly unable to influence it in any meaningful way. 2. I'll be dead in 25-35 years. Perhaps 40-50 years if I am extraordinarily lucky or unlucky. In the short-term, I do what I can to protect myself based on what I think is reasonable to do. In my case that's to live simply and save money. I might be wrong but I don't worry about it.
