I remember this incident. The screenshots from sywx are fairly tame, the dataset creator had death threats posted.
That said, I'd re-emphasize your perception slightly — "perceive it as not being _uniquely_ anti-AI" is more how I view it. I see similar sentiment on other social media too.
- steveklabnik 1y agoOh, after reading this, I also do remember the incident. I was pretty anti-AI myself at that point but also found the backlash very confusing. Honestly thinking about my response to that is probably a part of why I've moved towards the pro-AI side. And yeah, I think you have the better emphasis too. thanks :)
