I'm old enough to remember when you wouldn't need to hire expensive developers anymore because object-oriented programming would make it possible to have semi-skilled employees assemble software from standardized parts. They even talked about the impending "software factory".
- cheema33 1y agoThe Javascript ecosystem is quite large. And does provide a massive library of "standardized parts". To some degree that dream has been realized. A semi-skilled person can build simple applications in a very short amount of time. This was not possible in the early days. However, if the tooling has improved 10x, then the product complexity has gone up 100x. Nowadays, you can one-shot a Tetris game using an LLM. Back in the day this would take weeks, if not months. But now, nobody is impressed by a Tetris level game.
