I always wonder this. I was in the target market for Magic Leap / Apple Vision Pro but I never considered buying either because of (among other reasons) the extra hassle of prescription inserts (both for me and for guests who would want to try them). I presume someone has done the maths - but it's always killed my interest in these form factors.
