- devrandoom 1y agoCancer? It's poisoned blood and slayer of puppies, hopes and dreams. It's the lord of hell.
- Squarex 1y agoIt's still miles better than what was there before in Java ecosystem.
- elric 1y agoI think you might be living in a bubble of some sort? Spring, specifically Spring Boot, is extremely popular. Calling it unfashionable is simply wrong. I agree that it is a cancer. Monocultures are rarely a good idea. And I strongly prefer explicit dependencies and/or compile time magic over runtime magic. But it is "convenient" and very much en vogue.
- rr808 1y agoI think the problem I'm trying to describe is yes, Spring is popular within the people that do work on Java appications, however the Java/Spring platform is the reason most developers do not want to use Java. Java/Quarkus, Java/Micronaut or even Java/VertX would be more popular if they became the default Java framework in stead of Java/Spring.
