The point about how increasing the number of Steam games published didn't increase the number of critically acclaimed Steam games, and therefore, volume decreases average quality, is very weird. It's the wrong conclusion to draw when an alternative, like the volume of reviews didn't increase along with the number of games published, exists.
- nuredini 1y agoDo you mean that there aren't that many critically-acclaimed games nowadays (relative the the number of games coming out) because there aren't enough reviewers? I can't really think of many great, recent games that haven't had enough reviews or the attention they deserved. Sure, that might be some cases; but, in general, it just feels like we don't read more positive reviews because we're not getting that many great games. I think that if the number of reviewers were to increase, the ratio between critically-acclaimed games and the total number of games coming out would still be very unimpressive.
