I made a system to abolish subscriptions
- lxe 1y agoOpenrouter but for humans. Neat. What is "Janus" btw... never heard of it.
- JonanJ 1y agoThanks! JANUS is one of our partners, it's an all-in-one AI chatbot that's cyberpunk themed.
- obvi8 1y agoVery cool! I think about subscription overload pretty frequently, and how something like this could line up with the news industry. I haven’t seen a product in a while, but I feel like libraries offering news access is about as close as there’s been to a successful product in subscription consolidation.
- JonanJ 1y agoThe news industry could 100% do better. They're literally the ONLY industry that offers 90% off to everyone for a whole year...but seems to not see a problem with that. I made a post about it here https://www.linkedin.com/posts/sjunwikul_what-this-roman-emperor-taught-me-about-subscriptions-activity-7330955573099646978-8wyN/ https://www.linkedin.com/posts/sjunwikul_what-this-roman-emp... Not only that, but subscriptions are going to kill startups. 33% of consumers wont get a new subscription unless they cancel an existing one. Literally the definition of a zero-sum game as this number is increasing, but the new apps that come into market every single day are defaulting to subscriptions...
- yoeven 1y agoHow do you solve the access control part? Did you build the layer ontop or more like a auth redirect?
- JonanJ 1y agoUsing OAuth2.0 standard for authentication & authorization then using the access token from that to call our APIs to track usage!
- aulisius 1y agoJust from a first impression, it seems like credits replace subscription here? The only difference then is to switch to a pay as you go rather than fixed monthly payments.
- JonanJ 1y agoCorrect, but the credits can be spent on any apps in our network and there's no expiration on it.
- dalmo3 1y agoWhere's the full list of accessible apps?
