I very much agree with this. Find a job where you can meaningfully contribute to a product that is important to your company (generates a meaningful amount of revenue), and after a little while the natural thing that happens is you become irreplaceable because of that retained value in your head. It doesn’t have to happen, and with some effort can be somewhat avoided, but it’s the default outcome. Depending on your goals and career aspirations, this can be a wonderful thing, or it can be a bit of a curse.
