Good, I always hated writing papers and the whole arbitrary requirement of x pages was always so stupid to me
Really? You don’t think someone could get their point across in 8 pages just as well as 10?
Hope this means you just have to write more in person and are graded on the quality of your answers vs quality + quantity
- Loughla 1y agoRubrics allow everyone to understand the rules. How you define well thought out and how I define well thought out is very different. Wouldn't you want to know how long I think you need to spend on something if I am assigning your grades?
- gxs 1y agoI understand what you’re saying and agree, where we might disagree is on what the right measure should be for communicating how long one should spend on an assignment In math for example, they give you problems. Some days it’s 3 problems that take 2 weeks, sometimes it’s 10 problems that take 3 days For obvious reasons this wouldn’t work in an English class for example, there just seems to be a better way Eg, maybe the prompts should be such that they imply the complexity of the answer. If your prompt is half a page long, naturally it’s not going to take 2 pages to answer On the other hand, someone who takes 30 pages to address it is probably also off their rocker In that way you’d be able to grade the quality of the response - one student may succinctly say in 4 pages what another more verbose student might say eloquently in 6 and can both be deserving of an A I get that that’s hard though and trying to do that with potentially hundreds of students is probably close to impossible, so it’s just an example
