- KiranRao0 1y agoCan someone provide a tl;dr on him/why he’s important?
- npsomaratna 1y agoFields medal winner. Arguably the greatest living mathematician.
- Zr01 1y agoSome would argue more for Wiles or Perelman on account of solving long-standing conjectures.
- somezero 1y agoGauss 2.0; He’s very prolific, very famous in the math community. In this context, he is noteworthy because he’s taking automated theorem proving seriously which destigmatizes it for other pure mathematicians.
- 4gotunameagain 1y agoYes, google can provide that in like 3 seconds, human parsing included.
- meltyness 1y agoLean is a lovely language ecosystem, as Tao clearly demonstrates though, LLMs can struggle with it. The language and the tooling is designed heavily around not merely text code, but continuous feedback from a specialized shell, though Tao attributes the issue to another condition, that there are two acutely similar versions of the language.
- AntoniusBlock 1y agoSlightly offtopic, but there are other Fields Medalists on youtube too, such as Richard E Borcherds. He has some very nice videos on number theory and abstract algebra. https://www.youtube.com/@richarde.borcherds7998 https://www.youtube.com/@richarde.borcherds7998
