The internet has been changing societal structure for a while. The world is still learning to operate with it, and will likely be continuously adjusting for quite some time. Over the course of time, we will "lose" things and we will "gain" things. Society will approach equilibrium over time. Even when sectors of the digital world are considered hostile, there are plenty of ways for society as a whole to handle it. Societal equilibrium will never look like our ideals.
