The other rhetorical hazard is to insist that the new thing has to be a 1:1 replacement for a human therapist in the system we have currently. Who's to say it can't take a different form? There are so many ways a text generator could be used for therapeutic purposes.
- cmsj 1y agoThe fact that you (correctly) called it a text generator, should tell you everything you need to know about why it can't replace a skilled human who takes the time to genuinely understand and empathise with you.
- HPsquared 1y agoIndeed. But they can still provide information and perhaps advice. They provide a place to work through an issue as a kind of "responsive diary" that gives its own input. That makes it much easier for someone to write their thoughts and feelings out when they might not otherwise, possibly gaining insight or catharsis.
