Programmers like building for programmers. - A tool for productivity. Companies will pay for productivity. - A tool that's clearly AI-able. VC's will invest in AI tools. - A tool with plenty of open source lift. The clear, common (and extreme?) example of this being forking VSCode. Add to that the recent purchase of VSCode-fork [1] Windsurf for $3 billion [2] and I suspect we will see many more of these.
