- WD-42 1y agoAnd it's not yet another editor running in a web browser which is really, really nice.
- ramon156 1y agoIts fast. Love it !
- muppetman 1y agoDoesn't it need to download a massive nodejs binary to be useful?
- WD-42 1y agoFor what?
- TiredOfLife 1y agoJust for syntax highlighting no. But for any ide like features it need language servers and some of them are node based. https://zed.dev/docs/languages https://zed.dev/docs/languages
- muppetman 1y agoI dunno, you tell me? https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/12589 https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/12589
- WD-42 1y agoRight. “To be useful” includes leveraging language servers, which they aren’t going to write from scratch. So what’s your point?
- hu3 1y agoClearly. Zed wouldn't have blurry text rendering on some resolutions if they did. Issue has been open for over a year. https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/7992 https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/7992
- alfiedotwtf 1y agoI just wish it had a fallback if Vulcan wasn’t installed… I would love to run Zed inside a docker container so that naughty plugins don’t misbehave
- minzi 1y agoIts agent is a lot worse than Cursor's in my experience so far. Even tab edits feel worse. My understanding is that these are not custom models but a combination of prompting and steering. That makes Cursor's performance relative to others pretty surprising to me. Are they just making more requests? I wonder what the secret sauce is.
