I toured Alcatraz in...2019 I think? I'm far from an expert in construction, but the buildings do not look to be in great shape. I don't think there's really a path to re-using the structures in any meaningful way, it would be bulldozing those and building an entirely new prison on the same island. We could build a prison on land and dig a moat around it for less.
