US Navy aircraft carrier in the Red Sea loses a third Super Hornet
- foxyv 2y agoThe Truman is having a very bad time right now. Although I'm not terribly surprised considering the things I've been hearing about how the Navy operates lately. Maybe they will start letting their crew members sleep enough.
- toomuchtodo 2y agoProbably not. Symptoms of system failure. > As of late last year, the Navy was lacking nearly 14,000 enlisted sailors to keep its aircraft carriers, surface ships and attack submarines properly manned, according to the GAO. > The watchdog also found that aircraft carriers, cruisers and amphibious assault ships did not have enough enlisted sailors assigned to them to meet requirements for safe operations as laid out by the Navy Manpower Analysis Center. https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2024/09/11/how-a-sailor-shortage-is-crippling-ship-maintenance-at-sea/ https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2024/09/11/how-a-sa... https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-24-106525 https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-24-106525 https://www.usni.org/magazines/proceedings/2024/december/use-navy-reserve-address-mariner-shortage-2 https://www.usni.org/magazines/proceedings/2024/december/use...
- duxup 2y agoI recall a few years ago officers discussing how important technical training had been cut and in place of in person training by experts, simulators, or just practical application, they were handed a pile of CD-ROMs.

- treetalker 2y agoPerhaps this is a bad time to discharge experienced and highly decorated military leaders and to prevent or reduce the number of competent female or trans service-members filling open positions. Just a wild thought that crossed my mind — apologies for the digression.
- actionfromafar 2y agoDepends on what you want your expected outcome is, if it's absolute loyalty to the Leader (as it's called in English, in German it's another word) it may work out decently.

- duxup 2y agoDo we need James Tolkan to go chew them out? But seriously the falling off the deck 2x…. they not securing these planes?
- jazzyjackson 2y agoDo we have any proof besides "Navy said so" ? If I was losing planes in a battle against Houthis I'd say they fell off the boat too.
