When I started to use Android without Google a few months ago, I reached for FUTO keyboard. I love it (supports swiping), and the voice input is great, probably 98+% accurate. I'm using it to type this out right now!
- dns_snek 1y agoI've been trying to find a FOSS alternative to Gboard that allows you to seamlessly type (and swipe) in multiple languages without having to switch between them. I've tried FUTO keyboard before but it doesn't support that (yet?)
- tredre3 1y agoIt does have multi language typing. It works pretty well with the languages combos that I've tried.
- dns_snek 1y agoOh it was added 2 months ago, thanks for letting me know. https://github.com/futo-org/android-keyboard/releases/tag/0.1.24.2 https://github.com/futo-org/android-keyboard/releases/tag/0....

- drannex 1y agoI am a huge fan of HeliBoard[1], seems to have surprisingly better accuracy, for myself at least. [1] https://github.com/Helium314/HeliBoard https://github.com/Helium314/HeliBoard

- alternatex 1y agoI think a statement like that deserves some references. Otherwise I'd be surprised if it's not breaking some guideline.
- asacrowflies 1y agoI would like clarification or sources as well. But I don't doubt you, I stopped watching during COVID lockdowns as he started to spew some absolutely vile political opinions and nonsense like COVID isn't real or serious. Broken clock is right twice a day and all that, his right to repair stuff is good.
- lproven 1y agoWho is "Rossman"?
- theandrewbailey 1y agoLouis Rossmann, right to repair advocate. https://m.youtube.com/@rossmanngroup https://m.youtube.com/@rossmanngroup
- lproven 1y agoThanks. I don't do Youtube -- this guy? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Rossmann https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Rossmann What did he do/say/write? I've never heard of him before.
- theandrewbailey 1y agoYes, that's him. He started fixing Macbooks in a New York City park about 17-ish years ago. He specializes in board-level repair, and has autisticly memorized every chip model that routinely fails in every Macbook since. He made that Youtube channel to vent about how Apple makes repairing Macbooks difficult. Over time, he expanded to how other manufacturers makes repair difficult, and even how New York City makes it difficult to do any kind of business. (That's why he moved away.)
- theandrewbailey 1y agoI watch his channel somewhat religiously, and I've never heard him spout homophobic nor racist stuff. (He lived in NYC until recently!) Be careful with those labels, because incorrectly using them outs you as a leftist.
- lproven 1y ago> outs you as a leftist. Mirth I'm neither left nor right -- the real issues of the world are not about money -- but this is inadvertently hilarious. "Outed" as a "leftist". :-D
