I think we should make a clear distinction between craft and business.
- Craft is when you try to achieve perfection by investing your time.
- Business is when you try to optimize return on investment.
Craft brings you joy, Business brings you money and money, in capitalistic world doesn't care about your mental state. You are in real world with sharks like yourself, fighting for the TAM (total addressable market) or trying to expand TAM (which is not an easy job).
When you have 2 opposing ideas (in some ways), its very difficult to come up with good principles.
- bluGill 1y agoThe world does not care about your mental state. No need to bring capitalism in. The world doesn't care. Some people care about you, some do not - you find this in all cultures. This is nothing to do with economics and trying to make it so is not helpful.
- tuyguntn 1y ago> The world does not care about your mental state. That's exactly what I am saying, your mental problem is yours (saying this as a person who got burned out hard in the past), business doesn't care about your state, it cares about your output, ROI and maximize profits. Reason I brought capitalism is because in socialism laws might care about your mental health, not in capitalism.
- bluGill 1y agoLaws are not systems of economics. Many laws in capitalist countries care about your mental health. Many laws in socialist countries do not. Both of those facts say nothing about the economic system - you can learn about the government by looking at those facts. In cases where the government is some form of democracy you can also learn about culture. However you cannot learn about economics.
