Weaponized hypocrisy in politics is hardly new, this is just another example of it. The right wing has always benefited from a certain degree of shamelessness, as Trump epitomizes. By the same token the left benefits from an unearned certainty that good intentions are bound to lead to good results. And the rest of us are just clutching our heads and moaning in pain at this point.
