The first picture is definitely not "dad bod". The man is already in relatively good shape and looks like a normal human. It's not some sort of virtue to disappear every last bit of flab¹, and it should be no surprise that many people would find the "before" more attractive. ¹ (But no judgement if that's what you like, of course.)
