That github issue is closed because it's been mostly completed. As of https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/modelcontextprotocol/pull/338 https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/modelcontextprotocol..., the latest draft specification does not require the resource server to act as or poxy to the IdP. It just hasn't made its way to a ratified spec yet, but SDKs are already implementing the draft.
