The "Windows Desktop App" position from DDG is quite infamous here.
I did my own DD and found it has appeared in Ask HN threads since at least May 2023.
Beginning to side with others stating this position was never meant to be filled but rather serve as some +ve market indicator about DDG
- diego_moita 1y agoFake positions are the "kayfabe"[1] of HN's Who's Hiring. They are a variation in the "Emperor's new clothes"[2]: everyone knows they're fake but no one should say it. So, expect your comment to be removed. But thanks for doing it, anyway. - yegg 1y agoWe don’t have fake positions.
- Yoric 1y agoI don't know. DDG tried to headhunt me from a previous position a while ago for this. Perhaps they're simply building a large-ish team?
- yegg 1y agoThat’s correct.
- yegg 1y agoWe’ve been continuously hiring for this position as we’ve been building up our Windows browser team and have found the positions relatively difficult to fill.
