One of my brothers used to just hit my mom as a kid and she wouldn't stop it because he was just so small. Did you ever let stuff like that slide? I'm asking if he is a bully at home. The universe of him getting his way about anything pretty much has to come to an end, and I don't care if that means eating broccoli breakfast/lunch/dinner. The consequences have to permeate through his whole life. My mother did not put an end to that bullshit when she should have, and it lasted far too long. If you are dealing with anything like what I think you are dealing with, then the bully will come out soon as you start limiting any type of fun at home. Don't go nuts though, just basic stuff like "we're eating corn and no TV from now on" works, trust me. Negotiating with the child will only reinforce the notion of "equality" in the relationship, and that can never be made true in his mind (but that's just my opinion).
