Calling out narcissism is a good point. I feel though that this is ascribing a reason or motive to the person. Which maybe we need, maybe we don't. There is how it makes you feel "feeling that you don't care about me" and that's sufficient to look elsewhere if we don't have the energy in us to give it a little more effort. Where it might help if we could tell the one from the other, is perhaps there are better ways to prod for input into the conversation that would fit better the narcissists or the "overly polite non-askers".
