Don't they? As ill advised as these tariff wars may be, their stated purpose is to bring jobs back to the United States. Lately all the complaints of the form "Product X will cost $Y if made in the USA" have been coming from the other side of the aisle.
- spacemadness 1y agoThey are waving their hands wildly while blaming other countries aggressively for all our problems. I see nothing from them criticizing American CEOs for their own aggressive outsourcing strategies.
- Jensson 1y agoPublic companies always follow incentives, if the CEO didn't do that he would get replaced with the first one that says he would. This is how capitalism works, if you want to change how they behave you need to change laws or incentives, with stuff like tariffs.
- spacemadness 1y agoYou’re missing the point and at the same time are making my point for me. Politicians can change the regulations that mold incentives. See their awful strategy around tariffs. Neoliberalism makes outsourcing a more viable strategy.
- happytoexplain 1y agoThey're only trying to bring back blue collar jobs (and doing a bad job of that), rather than all jobs affected by outsourcing. It's purely political, as with everything.
