I read it as, they’re sending light to cone cells of a specific type while blocking the others. That particular type, any wavelength that triggers it also triggers other cells (albeit at lower intensities). I doubt they’d need such a special device to emit light of a particular wavelength, I think we can create quantum dots that do that?
