That's the thing. "Mainstream" Media in the US are no longer bound to the fairness doctrine. Thus, we have corporate ownership which steers how a story is written or at all. Independent media beholden only to their viewers (not corporate benefactors) are incentivized to do what you want more effectively.
- boringg 1y agoI mean media was never fair. Started out with corporate interests at heart in the early days - only kicked off fairness in the 60s i believe.
- VierScar 1y agoThank goodness the alternative media is bound by the fairness doctrine and don't choose how to cover a story, or if at all, and not incentived to reinforce their audience's beliefs and extremify content for views. At least they ensure they are well researched on the matters they talk about. Right?
