Show HN: Open-source sound effects and react library to spice up your website
Hi all, I've been using sound effects in a few web-projects lately (mostly for notifications) and it's always a pain to find good sound effects and then handle them in the browser. So, I compiled my learnings into an easy-to-use React library. It currently has ~70 sound effects (MIT licensed) and I'm happy to add more if you have any requests.
PS. the sound effects can of course be used without the React library!
- xingped 1y agoSorry, not trying to rain on your parade, but never in my life have I wanted a website to make sounds at me that weren't a video that I chose to click play on.
- j45 1y agoEverything doesn’t have to be for everyone.
- Magma7404 1y agoIt's broken because it makes no sound on my computer. Oh sorry, it's because I have the sound disabled by default and Flash-websites who make sound have been annoying for more than 20 years. Good luck on what you're doing though.
- luotuoshangdui 1y agoYeah, it's annoying when websites make unwanted sound.
- j45 1y agoAgreed. What if it wasn’t an annoying sound, or a background sound?
- YousefShanawany 1y agoReally nice modern sound effects for websites. Thanks for the share!
- lagniappe 1y agoYou waited for multiple years to post this comment? Something doesn't feel right here.

- jflessau 1y agoAlright, most people won’t want a significant portion of the web to go 'beep bop'. But the use cases listed on the website (notifications, game sounds) are valid, I think.
- j45 1y agoInteractive tools could be useful. Wish this only for react :)
- bachonk 1y agoThank you for sharing this, I added a few of them to a personal project[0] this morning! Will add a note to the about page to link to your repo [0]letris.app
