We needed this device and satisfied that need with a Sony Walkman: https://electronics.sony.com/audio/walkman-digital-recorders/walkman-mp3-players/p/nwe394-b https://electronics.sony.com/audio/walkman-digital-recorders... Very simple. Shows up as a USB drive and I copy mp3 files to it. My son likes to listen to audiobooks so we purchase them at the maximum price possible and then download them from bittorrent.
