Ask HN: A basic income variant that pays people based on self-employment effort?
So even if they make no money, as long as they are making a genuine attempt at self-employment they would be given this basic income variant.
- RegnisGnaw 2y agoHow will this be enforced? How will you define this "genuine attempt" vs "non-genuine attempt"? You're going to need a massive government bureaucracy to monitor everyone for compliance (or some kind of massive AI surveillance system).
- amichail 2y agoAI would be less expensive.
- pavel_lishin 2y agoHow do you figure?
- pavel_lishin 2y agoI think just about any attempt at enforcement and "means testing" will itself cost more than the "savings" you'd have by not paying certain people - and that's before we start talking about false positives, false negatives, & people explicitly trying to game the system.
- tapiok 2y agoThere is an easier way, albeit counterintuitive - pay people for any provably performed, freely chosen "work". rovas.app
