Looking at issues in https://github.com/kripken/emscripten/wiki/Filesystem-Guide https://github.com/kripken/emscripten/wiki/Filesystem-Guide it seems to be there would be a big win in having an LLVM VM - you'd be able to have synchronous IO and have threads.
