Yahoo Wants to Buy Chrome
- KeplerBoy 2y agoYahoo? The finance app? What are they up to these days, how are they still paying thousands of employees?
- mattl 2y agoThey own AOL too.
- KeplerBoy 2y agoAnd yahoo itself is owned by some asset management corporation. I guess that asset management corporation is not in the business of losing money, so somehow yahoo must still have some good income sources.
- pier25 2y agoLast time I checked they were making billions per year in revenue
- flexagoon 2y ago> I guess that asset management corporation is not in the business of losing money Yeah, the "some asset management corporation" is Verizon Media.
- amhoab 2y agoIt's actually Apollo Global Management. Verizon only retained 10% of the company after they sold it.
- Larrikin 2y agoThey have a finance app? It's heavily used in my circle for fantasy sports.
- TowerTall 2y agoThe majority of my (small) group of japanese friends are using yahoo as search enigne
- KeplerBoy 2y agoInteresting, I guess yahoo is especially irrelevant here in continental europe and less so in other markets.
- mvid 2y agoI thought it was the fantasy football app

- laborcontract 2y agoYahoo throwing its name into the conversation throws me right back to the bad old days of web browsers, when Yahoo’s hideous toolbar was a staple of the ‘helping your grandparents with their computer and wondering what the hell all these things are doing on the screen’ era. It’s also making me wonder if we know what we’re really getting into with the chrome divestiture. A Yahoo chrome would make the web a worse place.
- Doxin 2y agoStill better than OpenAI buying it though.
