I don’t understand why people take anything he says seriously. He has kept people interested by offering fake robots, fake driving cars, fake going to mars stories, fake founder stories, fake pump and dump meme coins. The reason he loves Donald trump is because he is Donald trump. Then again I never understood why people took Donald trump seriously either. So maybe it’s me who doesn’t understand.
- hayst4ck 2y agoIt is a liberal value/value that curious people hold to take people they disagree with in good faith and treat what they say as true/treat it as if they honestly believe what they are saying. Unfortunately, once someone proves themselves to be bad faith there is a responsibility to no longer do that. Unfortunately, doing that directly results in conflict and the possibility of losing, which explains the general state of reality -- "the good guys" avoiding necessary conflict.
- fragmede 2y agohe hasn't delivered on all of his promises which does make it feel like a con, but Tesla does make cars, SpaceX does launch rockets, and Starlink does deliver Internet. You don't have to like that but it's impossible to deny that those things exist.
- JohnFen 2y agoSure, but those accomplishments pale in comparison to all of the deception over the years not just around those projects directly, but the larger number of projects that he talked up and that he didn't even have a chance of delivering on. Those appear to be just straight-up con jobs without any redeeming value. Being a good con man doesn't mean you don't deliver anything. Delivering something is an important part of a good con.
