Nah. Their business model requires it, just more subtle. Half the Apple "ecosystem" is just crippling their own products to only play nice with their products so you feel compelled to buy it over alternatives. See things like the Apple Watch, MTP support, iCloud backup etc.
- permo-w 1y agoyou can see why they do. for me the only real fear of moving to android (I did anyway) was losing access to the Apple ecosystem. on the other hand, they've railroaded themselves into this situation by choosing it as the competitive advantage they want to pursue, and in doing so have damaged computing philosophy as a whole
