Some oblivion areas where pretty brown. This was before everything had skins and rainbows and what not

It was the "piss filter" era in gaming. Lots of games during that period looked brownish with a terrible blur on everything. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/piss-filter/ https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/piss-filter/

Gotta say the new ChatGPT 4o image gens are like the resurgence of the piss filter aesthetic

At the time though, Oblivion was notable for it's trees and greenery. It definitely didn't have a piss filter, The Elder Scrolls series just spends a lot of time in literal dirt caves.

I always called this the "chlorine filter" because it reminded me of what your vision looks like after swimming in chlorinated water after a while.

Oblivion had more of a blue tint IIRC

Depended on area general world was blue, then the Oblivion gates were orange/brown. I think shivering isles also have something different.

It is wild we have swing so far to the other side. Join a COD match and it looks like a carnival.

I recall it wasn't as bad as the grey of fallout 3. I'm trying to recall if any of the bethesda games colorful?

The area in the west was brown coastal scrub. The north was white with snow. Everywhere else was lush temperate forest green or possibly tropical rainforest green in the far south. In fact to further refute your point and the child post's reply about the piss filter and BrownIsReal (which I guess he forgot) I'm going to find the screenshot I saw comparing the sight you see after leaving the Imperial Prison Sewer. [several hours later] wtf it was actually an embed from reddit https://i.redd.it/kmvxwrz7ozue1.jpeg https://i.redd.it/kmvxwrz7ozue1.jpeg furthermore I dragged out a couple of my own screenshots https://files.catbox.moe/7o0eq7.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/7o0eq7.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/dbmvid.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/dbmvid.jpg unfortunately I don't have any beauty shots
