Churches disappearing is described as though it's a bad thing.
- TimTheTinker 1y agoHow is it not? For millions of people, church is a cornerstone institution they build their lives from (besides family and work). It's how they form social connections, support and are supported, care for one another through hard times, find spouses, and find meaning in life. You don't have to agree with Christianity's beliefs to see that churches are and have been helpful to a huge number of people.
- WorldPeas 1y agoif some do not have the church they turn to the pulpit of the algorithm, when one does not have to stand behind what they say, it is far darker than the vitriol anyone would soberly say
- quantified 1y agoSorry, preachers in Christianity don't stand behind what they say either. Faith healers, child rapists, memecoin shills. We call them influencers on Tiktok now.
- quantified 1y agoWhile it works, it's a celebration of fiction and props up the abandonment of reason.
- m463 1y agoyou're right. The world is so full of ... just a bit of nuance.
