Show HN: ArTok is TikTok for research papers
Hello everyone!
I always found it hard to find new research papers outside of my usual bubble. I thought a random feed (with no recommendation algorithms) might be a fun way to explore. But I also didn’t want to waste time on completely unrelated stuff — so the idea of a fast, swipeable format came to mind.
Wikitok was a real inspiration! But Arxiv and Open Review APIs weren’t as robust as Wikipedia, so I pulled the papers into a Postgres backend.
Right now, I’ve indexed papers from a few recent ML conferences to see if this might be useful for others too.
No signups required and it’s totally free. You can mark your favorites and add text annotations, which are saved on your device.
Would love to hear your feedback!

- GodelNumbering 1y agoThis is awesome! Thanks for making this. One feature that would make it super useful is to have 30-60 seconds of audio (AI generated) that tells me enough high level info about the paper to know whether I want to go deeper (and 'save for later' button to go with). That way a user can use it while commuting or driving. Again, really cool idea that helps people learn things instead of wasting time on same old tiktoks/reels. Nicely done, OP!
- ykumards 1y agoThank you so much! :) I’ll definitely try to add audio. Local TTS models are getting better and I guess I can feed the headline to create a podcast-like feed
- GodelNumbering 1y agoLocal TTS has become incredibly good lately. Check out some content on locallama if you haven't. I tried a couple and was blown away by how good some of them were! Best of luck, world needs more content like yours!

- ykumards 1y agoThat’s a great point! I could add some “roles” that people can choose for the kind of papers they’d like to see.
