You can’t get symmetrical 1Gbps residential connections, but I imagine the EE plans cost more than $500/m. I’m on Leaptel 1000/400 for $166/m and it’s fantastic. Fingers crossed they offer the nbn multi gig speeds later this year.

It's crazy to me how different it is across the Tasman - in NZ you can get 2 or 4 Gbps symmetrical for $150-180/m NZD in major cities.
